Flappy Box
Online Workshop

Workshop Overview

The FLAPPYBOX Workshop Series redefines how architectural learning and exhibition intersect. Developed from the STEAM-released VR gallery and game FLAPPYBOX, designed by Saul Kim in collaboration with FIVEIGHTEN, this workshop invites participants into a speculative architectural journey through an immersive, gamified gallery.

Each session is structured not merely as a technical tutorial but as a curated passage through the virtual levels of FLAPPYBOX, each dedicated to a specific architectural question. Unlike conventional programs that isolate software or conceptual instruction, this workshop treats the design process as part of a larger spatial narrative. Participants move through the second, third, and fourth floors of FLAPPYBOX—Plane, Mass, and Ground manipulation—developing a critical understanding of typology, geometry, and digital storytelling. Final projects will be archived and exhibited on a dedicated landing page, allowing participants to use their work for portfolios, publications, or future applications.

Workshop Structure

Workshop has 3 sessions, having differnet topics.
2F , 3F, 4F - like a real gallery.

Week 1

Introduction & Conceptual Framework

  • Introduction to FLAPPYBOX and its curatorial logic

  • Floor-specific thematic lecture (Plane / Mass / Ground)

  • Typological precedents and spatial diagramming

 Experience AI-empowered 2D to 3D Rendering Technology with Comfy-UI

" This is not just like any other workshops.

It's the opportunity to delve into architectural geometry and develop spatial narrative.

Then, exploring new technologies of AI and gamified gallery."

Instructor Profile

Saul Kim

Main Instructor

Saul Kim is an architectural designer, educator, and director of Saul Kim Studio based in Seoul. A graduate of the Harvard GSD (M.Arch II) and SCI-Arc, his work navigates between speculative design, fabrication, and digital architecture. His teaching includes roles at Hongik University, Kaywon University of Art and Design, and Domestika.

Saul’s FLAPPYBOX has been featured in C3 Magazine, STIRworld, and DesignWanted, and presented at international conferences and institutions. His work critically investigates the aesthetics of anomaly, post-functionality, and digital spatial experience.
